Ralcorp Holdings, Inc. reported an 8.4 percent drop in earnings for its fiscal first quarter to $65.3 million from $71.3 million in the same quarter of its prior fiscal year. The decline came from loses on economic hedging activities and other costs related to recent merger and integration costs, the St. Louis-based private label processor reported Feb. 7.
Overall revenues reached $1.38 billion in the quarter, an 18 percent increase compared with $1.2 billion in the same quarter last year.
Ralcorp recently spun off its branded Post Foods business and late last year bought
Sara Lee Corp.'s North American private-brand refrigerated-dough business. Also last year, it fought off an unwanted $5.2 billion takeover attempt by ConAgra Foods.
