Target Goes International with Peter Pilotto Launch

February 7, 2014

It might not feel like spring in most parts of the country, but this weekend Target will be putting many shoppers in the mood for short skirts and swimwear. The retailers new spring fashion collaboration with Peter Pilotto will enter stores on Sunday, February 9, with bright, kaleidoscopic prints splashed across women’s apparel, accessories and swimwear.

While pieces will be available in U.S. and Canadian stores, as well as Target.com, the mass merchandiser has also partnered with NET-A-PORTER.com to offer the limited-edition Target collection to an international audience (the website will carry a curated assortment). The partnership marks Target’s first time offering goods outside the U.S. and Canada, the retailer confirmed to PLBuyer.

Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos are the designers behind the exclusive PETER PILOTTO for Target line. The two met while studying at Antwerp’s prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Belgium and together created one of London’s most recognized and coveted fashion brands. PETER PILOTTO is currently sold at more than 220 retailers worldwide and NET-A-PORTER.com delivers to more than 170 countries.

In December 2009, Peter Pilotto was awarded the Best Emerging Talent Award and the Women’s Swarovski Award for New Potential High-Level Garments at the British Fashion Awards. Additional accolades followed in 2011 when the label received the prestigious Fashion Forward Award by the British Fashion Council.

The Target line “exemplifies the designers’ distinct aesthetic, combining hyper-real digital prints in striking blues and greens and warm reds and oranges,” according to the retailer.

“By working with Target, we’re able to broaden our reach and bring our design aesthetic to an entirely new audience,” said Peter Pilotto in a press release. “This is a pivotal moment for our brand. Our collection for Target embodies the elegance and spirit of our own line, but makes it accessible to everyone,” added Christopher De Vos.

Prices of the nearly 70 items in the collection range from $14.99 to $79.99 for apparel and swimwear and $16.99 to $39.99 for accessories.
