7-Eleven Buys 143 Stores In Texas
7-Eleven announced Thursday that it was buying 143 Speedy Stop and Tigermarket stores in Texas from C.L. Thomas Inc.
The move builds 7-Eleven’s reach in San Antonio, the company said in a news release. Details of the purchase price were not announced, but the deal did close Dec. 31.
“We continue to build our presence in a rapidly growing area of the U.S., along the I-35 corridor from north of Dallas/Fort Worth to the Mexican border,” 7-Eleven CFO Stan Reynolds said in the release. “We expect to grow to more than 700 7-Eleven stores in Texas from last year’s 342 with this and other acquisitions we’ve made in 2012.”
Current Speedy Stop and Tigermarket employees will be interviewed by 7-Eleven, the company said, and it will offer qualified employees positions within the company.
