PLMA Live: Online Media Helping PL Compete With National Brands

Advertsiers are expected to channel more revenue this year in to online media then they are into print media and that has strong implications as to how private label marketing will play out against branded goods marketing in the future, according to a new video report by David Merrefield on PLMA Live.

 

In 2012 ad spending will reach an estimated $39.2 billion dollars from online and $33.8 billion dollars from all other forms of print, according to the research firm eMarketer.

 

“For many years it has appeared inevitable to media watchers that this would happen, but few thought it would happen this quickly,” notes Merrefield. “One reason for the ad spending change is that consumers near universal access to the internet whether by a computer of mobile device has also happened quickly, so what’s fading is print media.”
