It's been a very encouraging sight to see so many people attending the opening day of the National Retail Federation (NRF) show Sunday, Jan. 9 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. It means that more and more retailers are cautiously optimistic about their futures and are hopeful that the economy will rebound.
Retail registration for the NRF show is up 20 percent from last year, according to the NRF Web site. More than 74 countries are represented at the event as well.
Seven new things for 2011 are at the show, including:
1. The Retail Big Show mobile app,
2. The first ever international sustainable retailing symposium,
3. A live Twitter board streaming Big Show tweets straight from attendees and speakers,
4. The opportunity to purchase audio-synched PowerPoint presentations of show sessions,
5. A retail talent networking luncheon,
6. A huge gift card giveaway
7. “I Heart Retail” t-shirts available for purchase.
