Sugar Free CheesecakesSweet Lilly’s added three new varieties to its line of sugar-free cheesecakes. The new varieties include Chocolate Chip, Michigan Cherry and Apple Crumb. The cheesecakes, which are available for private label programs, are made with Philadelphia brand cream cheese and arrive pre-cut in 16- or 20-piece sizes.

Premium Chocolate ProductsThe Spanish food company Natra, which specializes in cocoa and chocolate products, is focusing on creating premium chocolate products for private label programs in 2009. One such product is Natra’s Hot Chocolate, a chocolate-based sauce intended as an ice cream topping or for cooking and baking. The sauce is available in dark and milk chocolate or other flavors upon request. Other new items include Hazelnut Chocolate Squares and individually wrapped Truffles packaged in an attractive tube.

Flax SeedsCarrington Farms now offers Organic Roasted Flax Seeds that are available under its Carrington Farms brand and for private label programs. The seeds are packaged in a 10-oz. stand-up pouch. Carrington Farms uses a proprietary roasting process that produces a flax seed shell that is brittle enough for consumers to crunch with their teeth, without the extra step of grinding or milling, which maintains every health benefit of the flax seed.

Eco-Friendly Household CleanersAmerican Consumer Products LLC launched a new line of household cleaners available for private label programs. Each product in the line is offered in a 100 percent recyclable 12-oz. pouch. Products include Concentrated Glass and Multi-Surface Cleaner - Organic formula; Concentrated Window Cleaner - Ammonia-free, Biodegradable formula; Concentrated All Purpose Cleaner and Degreaser - Biodegradable formula; and Concentrated Shower and Bathroom Cleaner - Original formula. Each bag will refill a standard 32-oz.-size cleaner or sprayer bottle six times. Consumers pour 2 oz. of concentrate into an empty 32-oz. bottle and fill the remaining 30-oz. volume with tap water.

New Salad KitsRiver Ranch Fresh Foods added a series of salad kit flavors to its range of private label salad blends, kits and packaging options. The new kit options include Honey Dijon salad with feta cheese, dried blueberries and pistachios; Sesame Ginger salad with a blend of cabbage and lettuce, cashews, wonton strips and optional lemongrass; and Salsa Ranch salad with cilantro pesto and tortilla strips. Easily adapted to meet a multitude of consumer requirements, the salad kits can be packaged in bags, bowls or clamshells with a variety of zippers and easy-open mechanisms, in sizes ranging from petite single-serving to “company’s coming” bulk packaging.

Vegetarian-Friendly Vitamin DPrivate label vitamin and dietary supplement maker VitaCeutical Labs launched Vitamin D3 5,000 IU tablets as a dietary supplement targeted to vegetarians. The supplement derives its cholecalciferol from lanolin instead of fish liver oil. Each small, round tablet is scored to be easily cut in half, allowing flexibility in dosing. Vitamin D deficiency is associated with problems such as a higher risk of autoimmune diseases, cancer, heart disease, osteomalacia and osteoporosis and susceptibility to infection.

YaYaBears Calcium+Vitamin D3 contains an extra dose of calcium and vitamin D3 for healthy joints and bones. It is available in vanilla and strawberry flavor.

Lighter-Weight BottlesThe “Lemon Top” PET bottle Amcor PET packaging designed for private label juice manufacturer Cliffstar Corp. features lemon-peel texturing on its lemon-shaped top. The new bottle also achieves sustainability improvements over the bottles Cliffstar was using before the Lemon Top was introduced. The bottle offers a 10-gram reduction in upper bottle weight, which means far less material is needed to produce the package. It also means fuel savings and reduced emissions with every case and truckload shipped.
