It’s that time of year again, when manufacturers and packaging companies gather to show off their products at the Pack Expo. As a newcomer to the show I’m excited about walking the exhibit hall and checking out the new products that will be showcased at the McCormick Place, here in Chicago.

The packaging world is forever changing and it can be hard to keep up with the latest trends. That is why Pack Expo provides a great opportunity for industry to people to stay current and check out their competition. As a consumer, I hardly ever think about what goes into the packaging of a product or how it is manufactured, like most people we are just concerned with the contents. The show will provide an eye opening experience for me to see the behind the scenes world of packaging and manufacturing.
I’m very interested in the trends of packaging, so I will definitely be checking out Project 2020-The Consumer Experience sponsored by DuPont, which takes a look into the future of packaging and retail through emerging trends and technologies.
Another section I will be checking out which is new this year is The Processing Zone. This area will house the latest processing technologies that will help today’s leading companies address production lines as a complete process.
I hope to take away from show a thorough understanding of packaging and manufacturing, from learning the process of how a product is manufactured to understanding how products are packaged. In three days, my knowledge of the industry will expand well beyond the insides of the content but to the outside of the product as well.
CM&P will be on-site bringing the show to you, through pictures and informative news articles on the innovative world of packaging and manufacturing. Be sure to check out our Jan/Feb issue for more in-depth coverage of the show.
