Silgan Containers, Woodland Hills, Calif., said it received Vendor of the Year honors from The Kroger Co.’s State Avenue plant in Cincinnati.

Silgan Containers said it helped the plant convert its broth steel can/end line from a three-piece welded type with sanitary ends to a two-piece drawn and ironed version featuring a Quick-Top easy-opening convenience end.

“We selected Silgan Containers as our Vendor of the Year not because they offered excellent quality, great sales and technical service and overall best value to our business, said Terry Shamblin, the plant’s manager. “We selected them because they did all of that and more, allowing us to offer greater value and convenience to our customers.”

The State Avenue facility is Cincinnati-based Kroger’s oldest manufacturing plant, Silgan Containers added. It has more than 300 employees and six production lines that turn out more than 500 SKUs. The plant manufactures products in more than 17 categories, including broth, salad dressings, pasta sauces, syrup and preserves.
