  • The November issue of the in Bloom newsletter from Salisbury, N.C.-based Bloom includes a “primer” on the history of “generic” brands and the differences between private label and name brands. The retailer also makes a price comparison between specific store brand and national brand products - and notes that 10 out of 15 products contain the exact same ingredients and are made in the same way as their national brand counterparts.

  • Issaquah, Wash.-based Costco Wholesale Corp. introduced Kirkland Signature Premium Hearing Aids in the November issue of the company’s Costco Connection e-magazine.

  • Kwik Trip, La Crosse, Wis., is promoting its new Kwikade beverage on its Web site under the “Energize Faster, Drink Kwikade” slogan. The product gets “star billing” - it is the only item featured on the homepage.

  • Dollar General, Goodlettsville, Tenn., said it launched a new Web page dedicated to making holiday planning quick and easy. The Web page, www.dollargeneral.com/yourholidayhome, includes a special section that features more than 500 store brand and national brand holiday items available in Dollar General stores.

  • Giant Food, Landover, Md., announced the completion of multi-million-dollar remodels to stores in Colesville, Annandale, and Abingdon, Md. Part of the company’s three-year “Project Refresh” plan, the remodeled stores boast new customer convenience options, technological improvements, prepared food offerings and improved produce and perishable departments to go along with “low prices everyday.”
