The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. (A&P), Montvale, N.J., said its board of directors appointed Paul Hertz as the company’s new executive vice president, operations. Hertz succeeds Mark Kramer, who left the company to pursue other interests.

Hertz will be responsible for leading the Field Operations Team. He previously held positions at OfficeMax, Wild Oats, ShopKo and Fred Mayer, a division of Kroger.

With his high-level skill set and vast experience, Paul not only believes excellence can be achieved, but he is also able to illuminate the path to it," said Christian Haub, executive chairman.
