Trader Joe’s Announces Recipe Contest

May 13, 2013

Trader Joe’s is running the “Stick It!” Trader Joe’s 2013 HIIP (Highly Innovative Ingredient Pairing) Recipe Contest until May 22.

“For some reason, we find that food takes on a whole new level of fun when you put it on a stick,” the retailer writes on its website.

To enter the contest shoppers must provide an original recipe that uses up to six Trader Joe’s private lebel products only (not including the stick). Alcohol is not permitted as an ingredient. Cooking prep time must take less than 20 minutes.

Entries will be judged on how well it presents, how highly innovative the ingredient pairing is, how easy it is to make, and how tasty it is. Five contestants will be chosen to be voted on by customers in June.

Each winner will get a $25 Trader Joe’s gift card, a reusable bag, and a “surprise” unique to Trader Joe’s.

All entries become the property of Trader Joe’s, which will have the right to use and publish recipies on Traderjoes.com.
