Walmart Canada Releases Raccoon Repellant Bag Under Private Label

April 25, 2013

Walmart Canada announced Thursday that it would begin selling a raccoon repellent garbage bag under is Great Value private brand.

The bags, which are sold as Mint-X bags across the United States, will be sold in 30 packs of 70-liter bags and 20-packs of 121-liter bags. They will be branded as Great Value Mint-X raccoon repellant garbage bags.

“Taking your trash to the curb only to find the bag shredded by a raccoon and your garbage strewn all over the place is not exactly how we like to start the day,” said Sandra Farwell, vice president of private brands at Walmart Canada, in a news release about the product. “Most of the time we’re careful and make sure the garbage can is secured … but every once in a while, the crafty little critters manage to crack the lid and settle in for a feast of chicken bones, vegetable peelings and other delicacies.

“We're very pleased to be providing our customers with a safe and innovative solution to what is often a very frustrating situation. The Great Value Mint-X bag is one of those products that just makes sense.”

Mint-X Chief Operating Officer Jeff Dussich said in the release that he was happy to see the bags being made available north of the border.

“It's exciting to see the expansion of our Mint-X solution in the Canadian market,” he said in the release.
