Planet Retail reports Dutch grocery retailer Ahold is reportedly considering getting rid of some U.S. banner names and giving the name Ahold a greater presence, but a spokesperson for the retailer denied the report to Supermarket News on Tuesday.
According to a story published in a Netherlands newspaper, a spokesperson said that Ahold was investigating whether it was possible to operate fewer different banners. The Ahold USA spokesperson told Supermarket News that the report was completely false.
Currently, the retailer operates Martin’s, Giant Carlisle, Giant Landover and Stop & Shop stores, as well as grocery online shop Peapod, in the U.S.
