Swiss co-operative grocer Migros’ Marketing Director Oscar Sager expects a nominal sales increase for its supermarket and superstore division of about 1 percent compared with a sales drop of 0.6 percent a year ago, Planetretail.net reports.
The retailer intends to invest more in the quality of regional products, Sager said. In addition, Migros will extend its regional product range, which currently consists of 1,500 items, as well as its organic range.
Furthermore, Sager plans to reduce the current 35,000 items in product range by 10 percent. Migros previously streamlined its food range in 2012, increasing sales density by 15 percent as a result. This year, the remainder of its range will be revised.
