Carrefour, the second-largest food retailer in the world, announced that it plans to expand its convenience store network in France by as many as 350 stores.
The report, from Just-Food.com, quoted a Carrefour spokesperson as saying 70-80 of the stores will be new outlets, while the remainder will be franchises switching to the Carrefour banners.
“Consumers have two main expectations: Time management [and] managing their daily spending,” the spokesperson told Just-Food.com. “The consumer profile is also changing [with an] ageing population and the rise of single-person households.”
