Shopko Completes Pamida Conversions

Shopko announced Friday that it completed the conversion of 163 Pamida stores a year after acquiring the company.

The Pamida stores are now Shopko Hometown stores, with the final 36 stores celebrating their grand openings. Shopko said in a news release that the conversions cost about $70 million, including a $2,500 donation to the local high school in all 163 markets where conversions took place.

“Our team did an exceptional job of integrating the two companies into one and staying on an aggressive schedule for the store conversation efforts,” Shopko Interim CEO Mike Bettiga said in the release.

Shopko Hometown formats combine pharmacy services with retail products, national brand and private label, apparel, toys, consumer electronics, seasonal and lawn and garden products. Stores range from 15,000 to 35,000 square feet.
