Target-ing Canada With Private Label

Target announced Friday that it would bring partnerships with Canadian brand Roots for a limited time collection, part of a sweeping announcement of exclusive lines and private labels announced for the launch of Target Canada stores this spring.

Roots owners Michael Budman and Don Green will create Roots Outfitters, available from March to June, a line that will include sweat pants, sweatshirts and graphic T-shirts. Target said in a news release that the line would deliver “the quality, craftsmanship, and comfortable styling the brand is known for.”

Target’s top private label lines all will be available at its Target Canada stores. On the food side, that includes Archer Farms and Market Pantry. The retailer’s new Threshold house line, covering bedding, bath, and home accents and accessories, will make the journey north, along with the up & up non-food line and the Pixi beauty brand.

On the apparel side, C9 by Champion, Cherokee, Liz Lange for Target Maternity, Merona, Mossimo and Mossimo Black will be outfitting adults, while children’s lines include Cherokee and Circo.

“We are excited to announce a selection of brands that will be available in our Canadian stores in 2013,” Target Canada Senior Vice President of Merchandising John Morioka said in the release. “Target is known for its innovative designer partnerships and assortment of exceptional products. … We look forward to bringing a number of our more prominent brands to bring the true Target experience to Canadian stores.”

Other collections that will come to Canada include the Nate Berkus Collection of bedding, bath and decorative accessories; the Sonia Kashuk cosmetics collection; the Giada De Laurentis for Target cookware line; the Shaun White collection of apparel for young men and boys; and the Kate Young for Target collection of women’s apparel and accessories. The Kate Young collection will be a limited time line, available April 14 through the end of May.
