A year after taking over as the chief operating officer at Meijer, the retailer on Tuesday named J.K. Symancyk its new president.
Former president Mark Murray has been named Meijer’s co-CEO, serving alongside CEO Hank Meijer, and will be vice chairman of the board of directors.
“J.K. has been a key member of our leadership team … and he has played an important role in the growth and success of Meijer since joining us in 2006,” Hank Meijer said in a news release.
Symancyk will oversee all day-to-day operations as president, reporting to Murray and Meijer. He will begin his new role Feb. 3. Symancyk previously has been vice president of perishables, executive vice president of merchandising and marketing, and COO at Meijer.
