The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company Inc. has launched a new line of seafood behind the slogan of “So Fresh, So Healthy and So Easy.”

The revamped Great Atlantic Seafood Market department will provide customers with high quality, fresh seafood primarily stocked by North Coast Seafood.

“The Great Atlantic Seafood Market is an exciting addition to our neighborhood food and drug stores,” said Sam Martin, president and CEO of A&P, in a news release. “With North Coast’s less-than-three-day sea-to-store delivery policy, we’re able to provide the freshest seafood to our customers year round.”

The program launch included some extra training for seafood employees.

"All of our seafood associates were trained to clean, season and steam orders for customers and are able to provide product knowledge, recipes and cooking tips to our customers," A&P's Marcy Connor said. "Additionally, pamphlets with recipes will be available for customers with delicious and easy-to-follow recipes such as fillet of tilapia dijonaisse, and seafood steaks on warm spinach salad."

“Seafood provides a variety of health benefits, so it’s a great way for our customers to Live Better and stick to their resolutions to get healthy,” A&P Registered Dietitian Jacqueline Gomes said. “Adding fish to a balanced diet can significantly impact a person’s overall health because it’s high in quality protein, low in fat and calories, and rich in vitamins and minerals.”

The Great Atlantic Seafood Market is open at A&P, Superfresh, Pathmark and Waldbaum’s stores.
