Wegmans released a list of 50 new food staples that will remain the same price through April 6, an update to the program that began in 2011.
Nearly all of the 50 items – which total more than 240 combinations when adding up the varieties of flavors in each lines – are Wegmans brand products. In a blog post on Wegmans site, President Colleen Wegman said the program stayed true to the retailers’ values.
“The seasonal list is a big part of our overall approach to price,” Wegman wrote. “We believe that our customers should not be forced to buy what’s on ‘sale’ this week. Instead, they should be able to buy what they want, when they want it.”
Wegman said the list began with items used in their own family meals, such as roasted chicken, potatoes, salad and vegetables. There are plenty of citrus items, along with canned soups and frozen vegetables.
