Mizkan, a condiment manufacturer with heavy ties to private label, announced late Wednesday that it agreed to buy the Branston sweet pickle and table sauces business from Premier Foods.
The Branston business is based in the United Kingdom and includes Branston sweet pickle, ketchup, relish, salad cream and mayonnaise, the company said in a news release. It also includes significant private label business, as well as the company’s Bury St Edmunds factory in Suffolk, England.
“We are excited to further expand the Mizkan product portfolio as we grow our business base in the U.K. and across Europe,” said Craig Smith, president and CEO of Mizkan Euro-Americas, in the release. “The Branston brand has a loyal consumer following, and we look forward to continuing this legacy by providing quality products for generations to come.”
The sale is subject to approval by Premier Foods shareholders, and is expected to close by the end of January.
