Whole Foods CEO Delivering PLMA Keynote

Whole Foods Market co-founder and CEO John Mackey will deliver the keynote address next month at the Private Label Manufacturers Association’s annual Private Label Trade Show in Chicago.

Mackey launched Whole Foods as a health food store in Austin, Texas, in 1978, and the company’s 365 private brand has proven “how creative and innovative store brands can be,” PLMA said in a news release announcing Mackey.

“It’s terrific to be able to present him,” PLMA President Brian Sharoff said. “John Mackey, I think he’s one of the guys that define the direction that store brands and retailers are going in the 21stCentury. His message is based on quality and consistent responsiveness, and that’s essential to success in store brands.”

The keynote address will be given at PLMA’s Salute to Excellence Breakfast in the grand ballroom of the Hyatt Regency O’Hare at 8 a.m. Nov. 12.

In the news release, PLMA credited Mackey and Whole Foods for promoting natural and earth-friendly products, organic foods, and healthier and more sustainable lifestyles.

In doing so, “Mackey and Whole Foods have also helped to drive important changes in the retail landscape,” the release stated.
