West Des Moines, Iowa-based Hy-Vee Food Stores announced last week that its first seasonal private label brew, Bonfire Marzan Ale, was being bottled and was expected to be in stores soon.
The beer is produced by Stevens Point Brewery in Stevens Point, Wis. It joins three other beers that are produced by Stevens Point for Hy-Vee under the Baraboo Brewing Co. banner. Those are the Red Granite Lager, Lumberjack IPA, and Woodpecker Wheat, all of which were released in July.
Bonfire combines toasted caramel malts, German hops, and a smoky undertone, according to a report from Supermarket News on the beer. It is the first of three seasonal beers Baraboo is expected to produce this year. Supermarket News earlier reported the remaining two would be a winter brew and a combination spring/summer brew.
