Private Label Pharmaceutical Bought By Aphena

Classic Pharmaceuticals LLC, a manufacturer and distributor of private-label pharmaceuticals to more than 16,000 major drugstores nationwide, was recently bought by Aphena Pharma Solutions Inc., the companies announced earlier this month.

Classic Pharmaceuticals, based in Sherburne, N.Y., manufactures two OTC private-lavel products, the release said, a nasal inhaler for cold and flu symptoms and a chocolate laxative.

“Aphena is pleased to make this strategic acquisition of a small and growing private-label company, bringing us two very solid products and providing them to our current customer base as additional private-labeling opportunities,” Aphena CEO Renard Jackson said in the news release. “Bringing new products such as these into the mix will enhance our private-label business, drive revenue, and expand capabilities in our liquids and topicals division.”

Among Classic’s customers are Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS, Kroger, Walmart and Dollar General.
