Brett Milligan has been named the new CEO at Rome, N.Y.-based olive oil maker Sovena USA, the company announced, and he will begin his first day on the job Wednesday.
Milligan has 30 years of experience in the food industry, primarily in the condiment segment.
Sovena USA is the largest importer of olive oil in the U.S., the company said in a news release announcing the move, and supplies more than 50 percent of all private label olive oil in the U.S. retail market.
The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Portugal-based Sovena Group, the second-largest processor and producer of olive oil in the world.
“I am blessed to have many industry resources that can help me gain a broader understanding of the company and the marketplace in which Sovena USA is clearly an industry leader,” Milligan said in the release. “It’s a big challenge, and I’m excited about the opportunity.”
