Omaha, Neb.-based ConAgra Foods said late Tuesday that it acquired the pita chip business unit from Kangaroo Brands, based in Milwaukee.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the deal includes a manufacturing facility in Milwaukee and about 50 employees who will leave Kangaroo Brands and join ConAgra.
“Pita chips are a high-growth category and a natural fit with ConAgra Foods’ private label snacks business,” ConAgra CEO Gary Rodkin said in a news release. “We are pleased to add another business that further positions us for accelerated growth.”
The acquisition is the fourth in the past year for ConAgra, which also bought National Pretzel Company, Del Monte Canada, and Odom’s Tennessee Pride.
Kangaroo Brands generates about $20 million a year in revenue. It will continue to market and own its pita bread and frozen sandwiches.
