Chicago-based Berlin Packaging, which handles private label products as well as national and regional brands, on Monday bought Connecticut-based Lerman Container.
Terms of the buyout were not disclosed. The combined company will have more than 110 packaging consultants, more than 80 sales offices and warehouse locations in North America, and expected revenues of more than $700 million this year.
“The closer we can get to customers geographically, the faster we can serve them and the more attention we can give them,” said Andrew T. Berlin, chairman and CEO of Berlin Packaging, in a news release announcing the deal. “This acquisition makes that possible by adding local presence in important markets as well as top packaging talent and deep vertical industry expertise.”
The company said the acquisition, its third since 2010, would expand Berlin Packaging’s presence in the Northeast through Lerman’s sales and service staff in Connecticut and New Jersey. It also will gain personal care and pharmaceutical packaging expertise from Lerman, the company said.
