Additions to the Adult Beverage Line4
Topco recently introduced its new two-tier wine program and beer line. The wine program offers varieties of wines in both the mid-tier brand, Quill Creek, and the premium brand, Cellars Crest. Quill Creek wines are classic California wines that include a 2001 Cabernet, a 2002 Merlot and a 2002 Chardonnay. Additionally, Cellars Crest combines quality and attractive price points to create a premium brand of wines that provides customers with the quality and taste they are looking for.
The new line of beer can also not be forgotten. Topco has launched its beer line that includes three new brands, Guilder, Baja and Culebra. Guilder offers an authentic imported taste that can be compared to Heineken while Baja’s light refreshing taste is similar to Corona. Finally, Culebra is a traditional import brew that is comparable to Tecate. — Topco, Skokie, Ill.
Chips and Salsa at Trader Joe’s
Trader Joe’s announced the introduction of its new Taquera Salsa. The fat-free salsa is made with tomatillos and chili de Arbol to create long-lasting intense flavor. The salsa is available in 12-ounce jars for $2.29. Also, the perfect addition to the salsa is Trader Joe’s Soy Tortilla Chips. Available for $1.99 per 12-ounce bag, the chips are low in carbs, include 6 grams of protein and are a good source of fiber. — Trader Joe’s, Monrovia, Calif.
Rite Aid to the Rescue
Rite Aid comes to the relief of sick consumers with its new 8 Hour Acetaminophen and Arthritis Pain Relief. The acetaminophen has the same active ingredient found in Tylenol 8 Hour and is backed by the Rite Aid satisfaction guarantee. Available in 50-and 100-count bottles, the acetaminophen helps to relieve muscle aches and pain. Additionally, Rite Aid’s Arthritis Pain Relief also provides up to 8 hours of relief from minor arthritis pain. The Arthritis Pain Relief costs 20 percent less than leading brands and promises to alleviate one’s pain — or consumers get their money back. — Rite Aid, Harrisburg, Pa.
Rocklets to the Rescue 4 
With the American chocolate market continuously growing, Arcor has decided to jump on board with the launch of Rocklets. Rocklets are candy-coated lentils, similar to Mars brand M & M’s. Hair Mousse
American Consumer Products (ACP), Los Angeles, has introduced a new line of quality hair mousse. Each can contains 9 ounces in three types of Extra, Super and Mega Hold under the brand of De La Ritz. This mousse is VOC-compliant and is packed in an assorted shelf display of 24 pieces. The target markets are value- and extreme-value segments. A Revolution for Diabetes and Atkins Patients 
Both diabetes patients and low-carb dieters need to constantly measure their ketone level. Home Diagnostics Inc. makes this task easier than before with its new KetoCare Ketone Test Strips. Within 15 seconds, a urinalysis gives consumers a reading of their ketone level for only $0.18 per strip. Reese Pharmaceutical Co. continues to expand its Intense Strength line of cough/cold items by introducing its newest product, Solodex Severe Cough Stopper. Containing no sugar, alcohol or antihistamine, the cough suppressant is designed to provide effective patient relief. Keeping Families and Babies Clean with New Wipes
Nice-Pak Products helps to keep families clean with its new Hands and Face Family Wipe. According to Nice-Pak, the wipes are made with a soft, premium cloth material that is strong enough for use by the entire family. Additionally, with 20 wipes per travel pack, the wipes are ideal for diaper bags, purses or even glove boxes.  Nice-Pak is also introducing its new baby wipe that is thicker and stronger than before. Guilt-Free Carbs4
Desserts are typically enjoyed by all but tend to be a problem for those trying to watch their carbs. Gladder’s Gourmet solved this problem by offering its new CarbTarget line as a private label opportunity. The CarbTarget line includes cookies available in Chocolate Chunk, Peanut Butter, Fudge Chocolate Chip, Cinnamon Pecan and Almond. Ready-to-bake brownies are also available and, similar to the cookies, contain five or less net carbs per serving. Food You Feel Good About
Wegmans announces three new products that can be added to its Food You Feel Good About line. Consumers gain iron, fiber and vitamins and minerals as they enjoy Wegmans Wheat Crunch Cereal. The cereal is made of whole grain wheat and barley and can be enjoyed warm or cold. Honey Wheat and Sesame Frozen Bagels also provide a quick, easy and healthy breakfast. Finally, Wegmans’ new Pineapple and Garlic & Lime Salsas are low calorie, fat-free, contain no trans-fat and no additives. The salsas, cereal and bagels are a great way to make consumers feel good about what they eat, the company says. — Wegmans, Rochester, N.Y.
Satisfy A Sweet Tooth
H-E-B satisfies most consumers’ sweet tooth as it announces its new 2wisters cookies and Tres Leches cake. The 2wisters sandwich crème cookies are made with real cocoa and come in three flavors: chocolate, mint and fudge crème. The cookies can be enjoyed by themselves or even dunked into a refreshing glass of milk. H-E-B’s Tres Leches Cake also go perfect with milk. The sweet and buttery sponge cake is soaked with a three-milk blend and topped with an icing of fresh dairy cream and crushed vanilla cookies. ­— H-E-B, San Antonio, Texas
Ready-to-go Omelets 4
Culinary Delights announces the addition of six varieties of omelet starters to its retail line of meal kits that was developed and packaged by Inn Foods Inc. The omelet starters contain a 4-ounce packet with a combination of vegetables and meats that is assembled with two other packets and placed into a retail bag with a re-closeable zipper pouch. One of the 4-ounce bags is added to eggs and an instant omelet is created. New Merchandising Tools
According to Melodee Williams, senior retail marketing manager for Intertape, “Merchandising moves product: it’s a fact.” With that in mind, Intertape announces new merchandising tools for its Pro-Mask Blue and Pro-Mask Green masking tape products. The new merchandising tools include shelf talkers, aisle markers, cut-cases, pallet displays, dump bins and fast racks. New Senna Softgel
PL Developments launches its new Senna Softgel. Expected to become a staple item in the laxative category, the laxative was formulated in the softgel dosage form. According to PL Developments, Softgels are the consumer-preferred dosage form because they are easier to swallow and are perceived to work faster. New Hormel Chili
Hormel Foods has reformulated its chili recipe to feature more tomatoes and spices, making the new chili bolder, spicier and zestier. Additionally, the chili has fewer calories and less fat than the original recipe. According to V. The New Wave of Vitamins 6
Traditionally, the only way to get a vitamin is in a pill. However, there are many consumers who can not take pills or do not want to take them. Vitasolve solves this problem with the introduction of its new line of dissolving strips. Once placed on the tongue, the strips dissolve in seconds with up to 98 percent absorption. Obesity is becoming a large concern for most Americans with many consumers trying to watch the amount of carbohydrates that they consume. Destination Products International Ltd., introduced its new line of low-carb frozen products in response to current trends. The products include four frozen entrée meal combinations and two frozen side dishes. The meals include: Meatloaf with Mashed Cauliflower, Mediterranean Chicken with Cauliflower and Cheese, Chicken Marsala with Green Beans and Pot Roast, while the sides include Smashed Cauliflower and Cheese and Braised Cabbage and Bacon. New Loratadine Launches
Leiner Health Products creates new competition in the loratadine market with its launch of the new loratadine 10-mg tablets and orally disintegrating tablets. The 10-mg tablets are equivalent to Claritin but retail for $0.37 per pill vs. $0.96 per pill. Similarly, the orally disintegrating tablets are a store brand version of Claritin RediTabs and Alavert orally disintegrating tablets and average $0.62 per pill.
