Giant Food, a unit of Dutch retailer Ahold, has entered a partnership with fair trade certifier TransFair USA to offer five varieties of Fair Trade Certified coffee in its Giant and Super G stores. The Dakota Growers Pasta Co. follows the low-carb phenomena with the introduction of a low-carb product called Dreamfields. The product is made mostly from semolina, a granual flour that is used to make traditional pasta, but now has a fiber blend added to block digestion of most carbohydrates. The line includes spaghetti, elbows, penne rigate and linguine. Safeway Inc., distributor of The Bakery Counter line of frozen ice cream pies, launches Dulce De Leche Caramel Ice Cream Pie.
