The Food Marketing Institute (FMI), Arlington, Va., said it honored Milton Sender, chairman and co-founder of Stamford, Conn.-based Daymon Worldwide Inc., with the FMI 2009 William H. Albers Industry Relations Award. Sender helped to transform Daymon into the “world’s leading company specializing in the sales and marketing of private label products,” FMI said. Steve Smith, FMI’s chairman, presented the award to Sender at the association’s Midwinter Executive Conference in Orlando, Fla., on January 12.

FMI also said it honored Jeff Noddle, chairman and CEO of Minneapolis-based Supervalu Inc., with the 2009 FMI Herbert Hoover Award for his personal and professional excellence in serving the food retail and wholesale industry. In addition, the institute presented the FMI 2009 Glen P. Woodard Jr. Public Affairs Award to Neil Golub, president and CEO of the Schenectady, N.Y.-based Golub Corp., for his leadership in helping the supermarket industry address key government issues.
