The Kroger Co., Cincinnati, announced that its board of directors elected W. Rodney McMullen as president and chief operating officer. McMullen — who joined Kroger in 1978 as a part-time store clerk and became vice chairman in 2003 — will replace Don McGeorge, who will retire after 32 years with the company. The changes become effective on Aug. 1.
