According to a March 9 Associated Press (AP)
article, Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based Dollar General Corp. filed a federal
lawsuit against Fred’s Inc., claiming the Memphis-based discount chain is using
the Dollar General trademark yellow and black colors and typeface in a new
advertising campaign. The lawsuit says the only explanation for Fred’s moving
away from a traditional blue-green color combination in its advertising is an
intent to capture Dollar General’s brand awareness, AP said.
