The March 8 Denver Post reported that Smart & Final LLC, City of
Commerce, Calif., acquired five vacant Albertsons sites in Denver, Littleton,
Centennial and Longmont, Colo., which the company will open as SmartCo Foods
outlets this summer. The SmartCo banner is a new venture for the retailer. The
stores will be larger than any other of the firm's grocery-store chains, the
paper reported, offering more produce, meats and bulk food products.
