Synergy Brands Inc., Monroe, Mich., announces that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Quality Food Brands (QFBI) received a substantial order from Rite Aid Corp., the third largest retail drugstore chain in the United States. Rite Aid placed an initial order for five of QFBI’s proprietary items. These products are expected to be displayed in the grocery area of the company’s stores. The products are currently being shipped to Rite-Aid warehouses. “We are confident that these products will enjoy excellent sales movement,” says Mair Faibish, CEO of Synergy Brands. “QFBI has a strong expectation that this is the beginning of a good relationship with one of the leading drug retailers in the United States.”

Ganeden Biotech Inc., Cleveland, Ohio, and ICAM S.p.A., an Italian farm-to-bar producer of all natural premium chocolates, announces Chocolate Plus Private Label, the first store brand functional snack program to bring together GanedenBC30(R) probiotic with an award-winning premium Italian dark chocolate.
 
Walgreens, Deerfield, Ill., brings a bite of the Big Apple to its stores across the country as it begins offering DR (Duane Reade) Delish snacks and beverages, the private brand line from recently acquired Duane Reade Drugstores. Pronounced like the first two syllables of “delicious,” the brand debuted at Duane Reade drugstores last September. Walgreens acquired the brand as part of its purchase of Duane Reade in April.
 
QKL Stores Inc., Daqing, China, a leading regional supermarket chain in Northeastern China, announces an update to its private label products sold in the company's existing retail stores. The management team reports continued focus on the development of its own company-owned, private label store brands which “enhance gross profit margin, distinguishes the company from its competitors, and improves the brand image of its stores among its growing base of customers.”
 
Sunbury, Pa.-based Weis Markets Inc. announces the launch of Market Street, a new line of sliced deli meats that offer customers “artisanal quality at an affordable price,” according to a company release. The new line includes oven-roasted turkey, hickory-smoked turkey, oven-roasted chicken breast, Virginia ham, honey ham, and roast beef, corned beef, Italian beef and pastrami, all made from premium Angus beef. The product line is expected to double during the next 12 months, and will eventually include cheeses, dips and spreads.
 
Topco Associates LLC, Skokie, Ill., introduces a new value-tiered deli meat under its Valu Time brand, according to an announcement in the supermarket cooperative’s newsletter. The new brand features slicing loaves of turkey, ham, roast beef, bologna and a chicken roll. Topco launched its Clear Valu line of slicing ham, turkey and processed American cheese earlier this year.
 

Federated Group, Arlington Heights, Ill., announces with Grocers Supply a mutual commitment to expand the wholesaler’s Parade program. Grocers Supply, a provider of brands and programs to the greater Houston area, will launch 107 SKUs of Parade frozen vegetables and fruits, reaffirming its commitment to the brand. Moving many items from the VIP packer label and adding more varieties and blends, the new frozen program will ship in the fall. The vegetable and fruit offerings include both classic and contemporary items sourced from key growing regions around the country and North America.
